Primate Focus began in 2024 as a deliberately ridiculous publication. The 2027 version keeps the deadpan, whimsical instinct while making room for genuine reporting, investigations, essays and features.

The editorial idea is simple: funny publication, real standards.

Reported work is reported. Satire is labelled as satire. Corrections are corrections. The house style is allowed to remain slightly deranged.

The 2024 inheritance

The original site carried the strapline Monkey Business and treated the modern world as a confusing place from which humanity had become worryingly detached from its tree-gathering roots.

Its stated mission was correspondingly modest: precision-engineered material delivered directly to the reader’s eyeballs, clearing the fog from modern life while keeping things reassuringly organic in an age of increasingly artificial intelligence.

That institutional temperament survives. The production values have improved considerably; the primates remain substantially the same.

The original 2024 edition is being reconstructed in the archive rather than rewritten out of existence.
